Random Reflections Poem by Latika Vashist

Random Reflections

Rating: 3.0

an ordinary evening
with the same trees that I love
standing apart in silence, craving to touch each other
but rooted firm in the brutal ground that distances them
only if trees could walk, they would become best lovers
better than men and women who have got legs
that take them apart…

stars that give a glimpse of heaven
a clear map
a simple way through the constellations
when the jet took me closer
they came down to earth
and I have seen them melting, fading and disappearing
leaving me alone with a crowd
a mob that knows that I love those stars
and hates this fact
But I still love them
So what they melted, faded and disappeared
Leaving me alone with a crowd…a mob…

My eyes blurred as heart skipped some beats
Some yester years flashed across
Permeating all the walls of defense
That I had erected slowly
Brick by brick
on cold emotions and mutilated feelings
and I see a dining table laid with food
music playing in the background
and my mother, father, brother…and me…
and no silence…no silence…no silence…

It was now the fragrance of some yellow roses
that died today in morning
I hold them still in my diary
For they sometimes talk
Like ghosts of my dead dreams
And curbed desires
I tell them to shut up but they are stubborn
Dead and still stubborn
They tell me I died before them
I tell them shut up
'Cause I know I did die before them.

I heard a song…a love song
pain, grief, distance, heartbreak and tears
Wonder, how could I still love it
I did
A beautiful song…a love song
That melted the berg of frozen emotions
And I cried.

And then the fierce run of time
The count down
Ten...nine...eight….
Like some last breaths
I started panting for some more drops of life…
I wanted to live longer (though I remember the words of yellow roses)
I wanted to live longer
I want to live longer…

Could have been much better if it was clearer what you want to convey through this.
