Raucous Honeyeaters Poem by vince gullaci

Raucous Honeyeaters

Honeyeaters won't allow
any birds near their patch
of red gum tree flowers
they dive bomb
my little mate
the blackbird
hardscrabbling the soil
for worms and insects
I saw the honeyeaters
swoop a giant crow
who had the temerity
to perch on the gum trees
and drive the big bird
away.
