Ravage Poem by Michael Oluwasegun Adesiji

Ravage

The Sea has been polluted
With the fries lifeless
And the fishes displaced
Crabs; wearing their lumpy egos
Around the shore.

The Sea is hell
Fishes no longer dive
Their flaps are sandy
Gills; flaming.

The Sea used to be mighty
Rich and so full of luxury
She prides herself to owning
Some hundreds of aqua resources

But there,
At the Sea Shore
Stood a choir of fishes
Singing pains to the plain heavens.

Where else should be called home
When home no longer makes home
Where else should one go
When tress get so hard to climb?

Who spilled the oil?
Men; they chorused
Who made home hell?
Men; they yelled.

Till when shall we wait to be home?
Will we ever survive the wait?
Oh! What a fate.

For reasons unknown
Oppression became the norm
Royalties turned slaves
For coins to be saved
Somewhere beneath earth
Inhabitants got displaced.

The Sea has been polluted
Deserted, or maybe even history.
Should the sea see life again
Won't Men strike again?
