Reason Poem by Elia Michael

Reason

Reason, the best of all the gifts we own
Human? They say this trait is only ours
Yet I have seen that we are not alone
It's also one of animals' powers
Have you not seen the cunning they display
On television's nature-loving shows?
I had a cat so I can surely say
That sometimes his behaviour would disclose
Reason, supposedly, exclusively
A human trait - the pride that we possess
My humble cat would often better me
It got it's way at times with cleverness
Reason, the best of all the gifts we share
With many creatures of land sea and air
