Rebuilding Poem by Ajit Das

Rebuilding

‘Little Boy', ‘Fat Boy': have you heard about them?
Do they sound like toys to be played with hands?
Look down the memory lane and you will find
they typify human ingenuity enthroned amidst horrors
of the killing fields, pushing to the blur of periphery
its face of love, compassion and benevolence.

Anniversaries may be observed, apologies tendered.
Yet, genocides, mayhems, ethnic cleansings, unabated,
will still leave deep scars on the bosom of the earth.
Uprooted, displaced trains of humanity treading
long uncertain way have no alternative but to strive
for rebuilding, skirting the vicissitudes of war, destruction.
