I stand on top of a great precipice
With you on the other side,
But the rift too wide.
A gulf between two worlds,
I tore up and rewrote the map,
To try to bridge the gap!
From first sight,
You were a guiding light,
Leading me to a shuddering height.
But will I fly or fall?
Following your call?
Is it just a cruel ruse?
Was I your muse?
What is this quandary?
A conversion, a catalyst, a change?
Brought by fateful events both mysterious and strange?
What is real? What is illusion?
Amongst this confounding confusion?
What spectre came to me?
Surpassing knowledge's furthest extremes,
To haunt me in my dreams?
I chased it beyond the world to barren lands!
Across eternity's shifting sands.
For restless nights I wanted to ask,
Did the phantom find you as well?
Is it a messenger from heaven or hell?
I resisted the burning temptation,
As I did not want you to fear the revelation.
In a dream I sat next to you on the shores of the desert sea,
With a man of great power beside,
When you vanished all was swallowed by darkness and gushing tide,
This castaway island we must never abandon and always protect!
By sharing the love in the art we strive to perfect!
The fertile ground salvation for all lost and found.
I took you under my wing,
To teach you the words to sing!
I thought I was your angel but perhaps instead you were mine,
Showing me through the folds of time?
Are you the one?
