Red Hawk Poem by Tobbie WhiteBird Crowe

Red Hawk

Sunlight golden,
Shifting shades of green.
You walk my forest
A laughing spirit being.

You take my hand
Your dark eyes glowing,
Wind softly
You sing me coyotes song.

Silent moccasin feet
Follow buffalo paths.
I watch white owl's feather
Guide my hesitant feet.

Flame dancing
I pray in quiet,
While bare arms lifted
Offer Spirit gifts.

They have intruded,
But they find us not.
The Great Spirit guides us
Even in the dark.
