Redeeming Republicans Poem by Randy McClave

Redeeming Republicans

Dear Lord Jesus Christ the redeemer
Please help me the schemer,
Please help me be more like a prick
Give me the strength to stop helping the sick.
Please help me to be more selfish and greedy
Please forgive me not to help the needy,
And please take away all of the stress
When I ignore the hungry and stop sheltering the homeless.
Help me forget the sins that I do
And please help me ignore those sins others do too,
And Lord if you don't mind
Please turn your head so that I can be more unkind.
Whenever I lie or cheat to make a deal
Please look the other way when I con and steal,
And when I pray after cutting benefits to the elderly and poor
Those prayers that I give please ignore.
Many times Jesus in front of others I do pray
But, it's for a photo op I do say,
I know that I am not following your teachings
And I am not following any Christian pastor's preachings.
Today I helped cut services from Medicare and Medicaid
The poor, elderly and sick will not get medication or aid,
I helped take away food then we huddled and prayed in silence
Now our checking accounts will have a higher balance.
Though I am not worried or upset or even have cried
As we are doing our own version of abortion and genocide,
We took away funds to help the elderly the needy and the poor
And you know we show no pain or remorse at all Lord.
In front of others while I bow my head with others once again
As we hear the cheers from other supporters for our sin,
Dear lord Jesus Christ the redeemer
Please help me the greedy and uncaring political wiener.
