Reflectionless Poem by Iftekhar Bukhari

Reflectionless

Reflectionless

You are not aware
how beautiful you are

You think
your body
your contours
are worthless

If you could stroll
at the time of sunset
wearing a pink dress
immersed in your thoughts
near a pond in some garden
or along some forlorn lake
like my heart: a full moon night
you would have known
how beautiful you are

But, the narrow alleys
of a poor neighborhood
are not acquainted with a sunset
or the beauty of a full moon

Just outside the door
the murky water accumulated
in a puddle
doesn't reflect anything!
