Reflections Poem by Alexander Beebe

Reflections

She cast her gaze upon the glass; complexion mirrored, how time must pass.
What subtle lines she’s prone to find from stories written in her life.
Her thoughts of youth her mind does wander, what lies ahead she often ponders.

He sees perfection in her face, such beauty aged, it adds such grace.
Across the room their eyes they meet, no words are spoken, their thoughts complete.
A blush and grin she gives to him, as if to say, “I know where your mind’s been.”

Reflections from the back she see him closing in with weakened knees.
Until such time that they collide, front to back his arms out wide.
Embrace he must her beauty draws him, like steel & magnet it enthralls him.
Her face he sees in mirrored glass, she smiles at him, he smiles right back.

The thought of turning back the clock, a foreign concept to his mind.
Her beauty as a well kept wine, increases with the passing time.
The years ahead they both will trace the lines of life upon her face.
How blessed is he to share this life, a gift from God, his precious wife.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
One of my favorite past times is watching my wife in her vanity mirror while she puts on her make up. I usually watch without her knowing, but she sometimes catches me and just grins. It's moments like that which feed your heart.
