Reflections Poem by Jon M. Nelson

Reflections

Life can be a gamble,
but you still must roll the dice.
Even if you are a winner,
there still will be sacrifice.

For every step forward,
there still will be a setback.
You must pull the reins tight,
for life will cut you no slack.

As you gaze into a mirror,
be very proud of the reflection.
When you feel at your worst,
remember that there's no perfection.

Before you can take flight,
you must stand on solid ground.
Before your innocence is lost,
your purpose must be found.

You must break your silence,
if your opinion is to be voiced.
Sometimes you break tradition,
in order to make the right choice.

Stay on the straight and narrow,
but the truth can sometimes bend.
As your new adventure begins,
it must also come to an end.

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

A soldiers creed Jon. Well written, but if you will excuse my slight suggestion. Try and exercise a little more discipline on the last lines of some of your verses. Remember that last part of the command is quick, clean and crisp. Apply it to your writing. eg. there still will be a sacrifice. there still will be sacrifice. Just a suggestion. Stand Easy :)
