Reflections - Poem by Mary Rodriguez
Love only comes around once in a while
When it does, you feel as if you live on an enchanted isle
Love lifted me up as high as the stars
Unrequited now, with emotional scars
My heart has lost it's ability to be appeased
Consuming pain, comparable to someone bereaved
Like a prisoner destine to a life in the penitentiary
Unable to escape the wreck of my memories
For some, things never seem to go right
Disappointment crashes down, smothering the light
Never have I faultered in my feelings for you
Things we've been through are hard to construe
I hold you up in the highest esteem
Sometimes I wonder, Was it all just a dream?
There comes a time when you have to decide
Is it worth all the tears you've cried?
Life is too short to live in the past
We are not guarenteed our days will last
I've had my share of closing doors
Not sure of who I am anymore?
I've tried so hard to be the one
Don't like who I've now become
Defeated and feeling I don't belong
Wishing you would hold me and tell me I'm wrong
I do not regret a single moment we've shared
For a while, I knew what it felt like when someone cared
Lying in bed, no sleep will come
Empty inside, all I feel is numb
I send a prayer to the One above
Protect and guide the one that I love
No matter the distance, time or place
My feelings for you will not be effaced
The stress of life ebbs with the warmth of your embrace
Every sense of you still makes my heart race
I love you completely, deep in my soul
Whenever I'm near you, I lose all control
Rest easy in the comfort I'm always here
What we have will never disappear

Love has its share of ups and downs.Sometimes we feel that our love is not reciprocated. That happens with the passage of time. Its just s matter of opening up and talking things out. Some need to hear the declarations of love to settle their fear of insecurity..A nice drop Thanks (Report) Reply
