Reiteration Poem by Casey Gochnour

Reiteration

I know I’ve said it once, but I need to say it again,
I’m at work once more, roughing over my pen.
This world lacks what I need, I’ve said it before,
And so often I’ve come close to shutting its door.

So often I’ve said it, and I’ll say it again,
This world inhabits over a billion men.
Most seeking the wrong, the pain, they don’t see,
Their minds are trapped, they’ll never be free.

I know I’ve said it, but I’ll say it some more,
Many a man live lives very poor.
They fight as lambs to just get by,
Aim for nothing more than the sky.

I’m not done yet, let me repeat what I said,
The heart of man today is dead.
Fighting for scraps, fighting for money,
For best technology, and it’s not even funny.

Allow me to say that again,
How a man loses his loves now and then.
How he never realizes what he truly has,
Until it’s all gone, and all that jazz.

I know I’ve said it once, but I need to say it again,
I’m at work once more, roughing over my pen.
This world lacks what I need, I’ve said it before,
And so often I’ve come closer to shutting its door.

For the world lacks the things that I aim to see,
The love and the hope from sea to shining sea.
Greed and despair haunt every shore,
I’ve said it once and I’ll say it once more.
