Religion: Mind Or Matter? Poem by Ryan Frenrey

Religion: Mind Or Matter?

Ever since the beginning of our time
We've danced for rain and prayed for fame
But today we ask ourselves is it all the same?

Is religion a good enough reason for the death of a martyr?
Or is it another conspiracy to keep this world in order?
Is it to teach us how to live happily for so long?
Or is it to teach us not to do what we made up to be 'wrong? '

Is it to teach us ultimately that peace and patience is power?
Or is power to honor God by flying into towers?
Is it to teach us to never take and to only give?
Or is it to stop us from taking from the rich so they can better live?

Does penance really forgive each and all of our flaws?
Or are my flaws only 'wrong' because man made the law?
Is living fully in the name of God a Sacrament?
Or is it just another scheme made up by the Government?

Is going to church once a week just a painless chore?
Or are we paying a revenue to start another war?
Is religion a guarantee of life everlasting that we all want to envision?
Or in the end will we all just end up in a mindless prison?
You make the decision

What do you believe?
