Remaining Will Poem by Sunil Vernekar

Remaining Will

In the chalky undertow,
of the cloudy ocean beach.
In the center of the worthwhile speech
She sent a letter to a friend
explaining all she knew
All she wanted to say,
and rue.
She closed her mouth.
She sent her folded words with tremor and despair.
Her eyes like wet saucers, floating out in space.
She one time aloud, wanting to forget, she one time aloud.
The golden scent of honeybees, the red tomorrows birth
the king of lost thoughts gently killed her remaining will.
