Remember Poem by Maegan Lefevers

Remember

Rating: 5.0

We all hear the words "get down, get down"
We all drop to the ground, no one's messing around
When the crashes end, we all rise
To see who we lost, the ones who cry

Now the angels cry, "it's not time to die"
They stand back up and they must lie;
Bury their feelings way down deep
To keep their sanity, they do not weep

They know that when trouble comes their way
They take the orders; they must obey
They do what they're told, only thinking
When they go home to see their baby

The soldiers pray to higher beings
That the fighting will end; that they will be free
For they wish to escape this Hellish nightmare known as war;
Dealing with trouble they have to endure
The war has long since passed, but it is still time to remember

Remember the ones that came home, remember the ones that did not
Remember the pain and distraught they felt
Remember the ones that went to the light
Remember the ones who were brave and true
Remember the ones who still are
Remember everything; Remember it all

Never forget the Vietnam Vets

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I wrote this poem as an assignment for my 10th grade history class. I'm now a junior, and I still like this poem, as it is one of the best I've written (in my opinion) .

A great poem. We should remember those who sacrificed their lives and the living for what they do for the country
