Remembering Friends Poem by Ray Hansell

Remembering Friends

Sometimes I reach back
To the years that have gone by
Remembering so many friends
That passed before our eyes

Somehow we believed back then
We would always live forever
We believed no matter what
That we would always be together

But the years have taken some of us
To places far away
From the place where we grew up
Back in our younger days

I moved to California
Some stayed back east
Others moved to sunshine states
To avoid the winter beast

The friends we made in childhood
Are never really gone
'Cause when you sit back and remember
In your mind they forever live on

They are valued memories
That we treasure more than gold
Because when you think about it
Childhood memories we all behold
