Remembrance Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Remembrance

Remembrance

They call it remembrance
I call it the fools' day…

I may wear the puppy
To recall what have seen,
Camouflage, war, fighting.

I was in three wars
Not chosen, not at all!

Wearing the uniform
Is mainly for income
In the name of a job…

The thrones cause the wars
And vultures run the wars
Nightingales lose the lives.

Yes, I was one of them
Harmed in heart by dagger,
Not because I wanted!

Took friends with smiles
And we did joke around.

Return was different
In caskets, stretchers.

Was hard to see them gone
Just because of their job,
Chosen to feed the mouths!

The rulers and wealthy
Are the rats and the pigs
On thrones, deciding
On others' faiths beliefs!

The day of remembrance
Is kind of disrespect
For the dead and injured
In the wars of others…!
