Reminisce Poem by Casey Gochnour

Reminisce

Broken and battered, I found you bleeding,
Your heart in your hand, eyes pleading,
Begging for safety, I’m here, don’t cry,
Hear my sweet words, let me be your high.

But see I also bleed from my wound,
And here I thought to be doomed,
Almost given up, I’d given my last try,
Shed my last tear, said my last goodbye.

But here, I have you… and you have me,
Not damage that makes us free,
The way we are together, our beings complete,
It’s no repeat, it’s no retreat.

From the first time we talked and shared eyes,
I knew I was a fool to say true love dies.
It wasn’t found before, we hadn’t found it true,
All of mine and all of yours led me to you.

Now we’ve learned to walk again, hand in hand,
So long ago, it feels like… a love so unplanned.
No doubt in my mind when I felt your soul,
Our minds touched and went out of control.

You’re all I think, all I can see,
As we walk, your arm wrapped around me.
I’ve got your back and I know you’ve got mine,
Connected at last with love so divine.

We’ll still feel the pressures of the world as they break our bones,
Forever walking, taking damage from the evil’s stones.
But we stand strong,
Don’t try to prove me wrong.

I know nothing can hold us down.

You’re the piece of me before I had lacked,
And it was all before our little contract.
I became your world, the entire thing,
Now we live together, with you as my queen,
And I as your king.
