Resistance is a restless changeling
Like Ogbanje, some are born with it
Others are possessed by it
The Ogbanje of our forebears
The invaders claim they killed it
But truth be told, it's still at work today
Sometimes it's subtle, other times aggressive
You see it at work but can't kill it
Can't stop it, no! not by man-made devices
It comes alive when you think it is dead
And dies when you think it is alive
Nonetheless, it lives, it lives through the ages
Resistance prefers the young and beautiful
For in them lies the fire, the flair and the furry
To break walls, to crush obstacles
To pass through like no barriers exist
To pull to itself the like-minded and the brave
Those still mendable whose hearts are yet to ferment
Whose minds ain't set on concretes
Who love and long for change
Common Resistance! , don't give up who you are
Don't take mediocrity for the sake of it
For you are not one that craves acceptance
Many see you for the fumes and fire
But you know you are a sweet spring
That harmless flow that has leveled mountains
An aquatic wonder that combines terror and splendor
You look vulnerable, yet very powerful
They love you when you quench tastes
But are displeasured when you open dirt
They take you for granted and never prepare for you
They deem you harmless and mock when you arrive
Resistance, walk through the walls now
Pierce through solid grounds
Break asunder the gates of oppression,
the stronghold of hate
Crack open the barriers of bigotry
May our streets not lack your presence
Until peace and justice reign supreme
