Retain Smile Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

Retain Smile

Retain smile

I detested people
When I was to struggle
For survival
As an ordinary individual

None laughed at
Or cut jokes at fate
But certainly sympathized
And tried to oblige

Amidst such sufferings
I had my cravings
I worked day and night
For family to their delight

They knew I was hard working
With one aim of keeping
In comforts and at an ease
Daily new energy was released

So I had colorful memory
With joy of family
And children playing around
All colors of hoi were found

Life might have posed some hurdle
But it was for us to struggle
Come out with success
And retains smile on the face
