Retrace Poem by Alison Lovelock

Retrace

These steps behind I regret in my mind. I sometimes fast forward and then I rewind. I'm inclined to find the reasons inside. I'll figure these feelings. Define every meaning. Discover seeing the ways without fearing. Disappearing now. I'm staring too far back. I fear I'll fall back and stop, frozen. Stuck on to which hold unsafe tracks. Behind and ahead, so I'll change instead. A new direction. New life. No affliction. Push aside my bad addictions. New life. New places, however same old friendly faces. I've got to erase this. Whatever the case is. Got to discard the pain and face this.
Embrace this. Now no one will deface this. I'll be stronger than before. Maybe more then I asked for. I'll close the door as it casts shadows to my past. One day I'll take off this mask and be proud to reveal myself at long last.

These steps behind I no longer see, so now I concentrate on what the future shall be. You can't control your destiny, so live life right and you shall be free.
