Return To Sender Poem by Suzanne Andersson

Return To Sender

Have you ever sent a letter or card?
Or maybe even an e-mail (let's get up to date!)
To someone you know or love
And had it returned to you
Because the address was incorrect
And so it was bounced right back at you
What did that feel like?
Did you get upset because you'd already paid?
The stamps and present sent
But no reply was ever made
To thank you for your trouble!
Well how do you think Jesus feels?
The price is paid, the tears are shed
The blood is spilt, the life was given
Have you said ‘thank you' for his gift?
That was so lovingly given?
Have you made any effort to repay?
Have you done nothing but delay?
‘I'll make the change another day! '
Will it be you who's turned away?
‘Sorry, but we're not taking any more!
The rooms are full the train has left
You came too late, you failed the test! '
How will it be when the time has gone?
And when Jesus comes again in fiery chariot
And will you be there begging
For those rocks and mountains to fall
Upon your sorry hide as you shrink and quake
In His wake, will you be sorry then?
Too late!
