Revelation Poem by The Jester

Revelation

There is a veil that separates
Two worlds within a world
As fine as woven gossamer
A net long since unfurled.
When we are born, we're born into
The side that all can see
The place our minds reside in peace
Where none and all are free.
Those content to live this life
Souls bound upon the ground
Never raise their heads to look
To find what could be found.
Yet live, they do, in happiness,
No darkness in the light.
A decent time, where each is told
What's wrong and what is right.
But always ling'ring, never moving,
Out of sight, not any mind,
The veil sings to those who listen
Sings to weaken silk that binds.
Those who walk with sleeping eyes
On the side that's good and true
Cannot hear the veil's call
Cannot do what others do.
With the chosen, something stirs,
The veil knows it, tastes the lust
For something more, for something real
Before their bodies close and rust.
A few, they are, a precious few
Are lured towards a violet sky
A life that hurts and cries with joy
To live to live, not live to die.
Without a thought, they step straight through
The veil, and for a fleeting glance
The world we see, illuminated
Given blindly one more chance
But half life casts a jaded eye
A flash of light, a burst of rain
Trace of sorrow, fear, regret,
They know they won't be seen again.
The veil is a dangerous thing
It speaks to who it knows is right
And lets them pass through worlds in worlds
To plunge them into blissful night.
The voices of the true are singing
Calms their minds and lets them roam
A different silence, constant ringing
Tells you that you've found a home
Touching voids, the veil keeps
Them far apart, you cannot tread
In both, for one is liberated
The other side is smiling dead.
