Revisiting You! Poem by Namratha Swamy

Revisiting You!

I stopped by the place where we last met
nothing seems to have changed as yet
the structure with its gardens looks well tended
without a feeble sign that something here had ended!

The love birds sang from the tall, tall trees
the flowers seemed proud hosting the bees
the fountains sprang forth its perennial sprays
as the ones I knew went about their customary ways!

Since the place was still just the same
it made your absence seem not so tame
and under all that gentleness within me came
a tremor when I uttered your name!

The thoughtless birds shook off the trees
their singing ecstasy sounding like a beast
and the structure came crashing down
like my heart which was once undone!
