Rhubarb Pie Poem by Ima Ryma

Rhubarb Pie

I am called rhubarb and do be
A vegetable as classified
By those humans who study me
And stick label to be applied.
Many folks think I am a fruit
When tasting me as tarty sweet,
Usually in pie pursuit,
Mixed with lots of sugar to eat.
But my edible stalks, raw form,
Are very unappetizing,
And would be spit out in the norm
By a human upon chewing.

Don't sugar my leaves in a pie,
Poisonous to humans is why.
