Rice Paddies Poem by Rebecca McDonald

Rice Paddies

Rating: 5.0

I love the silence,
the view from above,
the workers small,
like ants

The breeze is warm,
and whips my face again,
and again,
like waves upon the sand

Palm trees are scattered across the hillside,
A handful of market stalls line the road,
Its humid, the heat unrelenting,
Until it rains, but never for long

The ground churns and crunches,
Plumes of dust leave trails in the sky,
As vans filled with tourists,
Journey to and from these remote villages
