Rich Man Poor Man Poem by Francis Duggan

Rich Man Poor Man

His two children bright and healthy, his young wife has beauty rare
And yet he seems unhappy on his face lines of care
To look at him you'd say that he owed a million pounds
The saddest looking person for miles and miles around.

He drives a big mercedes and owns his own company
And he has earnt his nickname of 'Johnny Misery'
He seems like one down on his luck, the World seems on his back
And if per chance he forced a smile his face would surely crack.

A financially successful man and yet his features lie
And one would think with all his money that life he would enjoy
All his friends are very wealthy men at top of social tree
But peace of mind and happiness money doesn't guarantee.

A financially successful man but of humour he is broke
And he has not been known to laugh on laughter he might choke
He look so sad as if of late his wife had passed away
For success and financial gain such sacrifice to pay.

They call him 'Johnny Misery' the nickname suits the face
And for smiles and laughter in his life there seems to be no place
A billionaire financially his family secure
But the man who drive the silver merc so happen to be poor.
