RIVERS AND OUR CIVILIZATION

Men's relations with rivers is as old as Human civilization
All the great civilization took birth along the great rivers

Be Egypt, Rome, Greek china, India, Iraq, Iran, Turkey or Russia,
But for the rivers the great civilization would not have existed
.
Thegreat five rivers in theworld interalia are; Nile of Egypt
Yangtze& Mekong ofchina, Danube ofEurope, Ganges of India,

The great rivers of India are; Ganga Jamuna, Bharamaputra,
Sutlujh, Beas, Jhehlam krisha Godavari, Kaveri and others

These rivers are abode of great Indian civilization down the ages
Rivers besides providing livelihood, maintain ecological balance

Not only Human lives, animals, birds and insectswill cease to exist without water but also greenery also
In the mad rush for development, enough damage has been caused to these rivers

These rivers are gifts of nature and present generation has to preserve and protect
So that we can hand over less polluted and well protected rivers to next generation

In the context of importance of water we already see conflicts betweenstates within a country
