Romany Lady Poem by Joyce Hemsley

Romany Lady

Oh my beautiful 'gypsy' lady
With kindly look ~ but furrowed brow.
I make a vow before you
As I gaze at your picture now.

If ever I had a pot of gold
It would be yours ~ I tell you true.
Because I see in your dear face
The story of a life so blue.

When my eyes meet yours
I can't let you go.
If only you knew oh Romany lady
How my heart is captured so.

But to see you begging all alone
In the Paris subway again
Is such an upsetting episode that
My mind and body are filled with pain.
