Rose Of Evelyn Poem by Andrus Cassian

Rose Of Evelyn

Cupid, isn't this your day off; vacation time
February is still a couple months away
though I appreciate the service, the help
why have you shot another arrow in me
This was not my destination, not supposed to be the day
yet I think I may have fallen once more again
for a girl with magic eyes, fallen for one more sorceress
Although, although I am committed to a different cause
I believe I'm swaying, driving away from it
My personal attention, my good intentions
only focused on her twin pearls
I cannot deny the fear, she may be the start of a reckoning
My life is a soap opera-like warzone, scenes from a movie
honestly it's enjoyable at times
filled with excitement, laughter
a burning beauty to capture my gaze
leaving me breathless...leaving me breathless
so helpless like the threatening sun rise stole her away
The gates I've left open
my mind, I've let lose focus and strength
succumbing to headaches and immobility
while my heartbeat has increased
leaving my heart to believe it's a juggernaut
with blatant thoughts of Evelyn, sweet Evelyn
The alluring scent is burning strong like radiation of uranium
I just cease to exist this day
floating, remembering the loving look her eyes graced me with
Forgive me, readers and my notepad alike
I've checked out for the day, day dreaming away
getting lost in the rose...of Evelyn
