Route To An Altar Poem by Ojeikpo Elijah

Route To An Altar

Steps and stones, a winding trail
Leading to the altar's veil
A journey filled with love and fear
As wedding challenges appear
Each step a vow, a promise made
A promise to never degrade
But oh, the path is not so straight
With hurdles to anticipate
Family feuds, differing views
Can shake the bond, test the glue
But with each step, love must endure
And conquer challenges obscure
Budget battles, guest list fights
Can dim the wedding's shining lights
But with each step, remember why
Two hearts joined, as one they'll fly
And as the wedding day draws near
Doubts and fears may start to sear
But trust the path, trust your love
For it was blessed from above
Finally, the altar in sight
With all the challenges in hindsight
For they were just a test of will
And your love emerged stronger still
So take each step with courage true
For your love will guide and see you through
And as you stand before the altar
Remember, love is the ultimate conqueror.
