Rules Of Scansion Poem by Michael Pruchnicki

Rules Of Scansion

What is a poetaster, you ask?

A poetaster is an unskilled versifier
who memorizes a pattern
and works with it

A poetaster produces doggerel and worse,
but most often garden-club verse
which typifies the production
of little old ladies in tennis shoes
(of both sexes and various ages)

He blows a brass trumpet
of no reknown
mistaking sound
for sense
