Runner Poem by Andy Barrette

Runner

There's something 'bout a runner
that will always speak to me
in a very spirited way
that I cannot clearly see.
perhaps it's 'cause I know we share
the curse of wanting more.
Perhaps it's 'cause they're running roads
that I have run before.
Perhaps it's 'cause I know
they're on a journey never done.
Perhaps it's 'cause we're fighting
in a war that's never won.
We share the same ambition,
every day as life comes by,
of growing strong into eternity
at least until we die.
