Sacrafice And Other Reassurances Poem by Kyle Jones

Sacrafice And Other Reassurances

Rating: 5.0

Long on the edge I stood,
Gazing into the chasm
A chasm of beautiful and ironic distortion
Something I've dreamed of, yet dreaded.
Hands full and heart aflame

And like the love I harboured for you,
To be held like grains of salt,
I silently wept
As one after another
They seeped thought my fingertips.

Yet sooner than I hoped
For it felt as if no time at all had died
I looked down to see my hands empty
Every last beautiful speck had fallen.
Fallen into the canyon I feared

And with a deep rasping breath,
I came to the only logical decision
With a final leap of faith,
I threw my love my only endowment
My lifeless body into the depths

For it was all I had left to give,
Living a promise to follow,
Following where she leads,
Regardless of my own life
And other reassurances
