Sacred Dreams Poem by DEEPAK KUMAR PATTANAYAK

Sacred Dreams

With eyes open come dreams barely and I see nothing;
And with eyes closed come dreams profusely and I see everything
Like that of a place in God's land I was once wandering
And looking for pleasantries of heavenly things
Coming across many a familiar divine face
That I used to worship and adore daily in morning and evening

Brighter was the path of God's land I was treading
In darkness of night and in sweetness of dream of quiet slumbering
Could see a Lofty One with thy smiling face of flame dazzling
Beckoning me with thy universal hands of light to receive thy blessing
Could see a Beautiful One adorned with jewels
And thy tusks looking very real and eyes very small but striking
Praying ardently to the Presiding Deity for knowledge, riches and wealth so pleasing

Could see a Graceful One standing in princely attire
With an arrow in thy right hand and a bow in thy left and a quiver on thy back
And wife, brother and humble devotee on thy side so inspiring
Could see a Loving and ever Smiling One among the gopis
Playing, joking, stealing.......and for the eyes so fulfilling
Could see a Mighty One with a Trident in thy hand
Looking like a Yogi from Kailas meditating
Praying to thee for prosperity, enlightenment of our souls
And for our well-being and to forgive our sins and our failings so touching

Could see a Blissful One as formost of Goddesses shining
Ten-armed, broad-hipped, full-breasted and graceful
Beauteous is thy form looking like a sun rising
And beauteous is thy face looking like a moon blooming
Praying to thee for fame, prosperity, success and happiness so delighting
Could see an Universal One as the Lord of Universe on the 'Ratnavedi',
Black in colour and large and round are eyes,
Worshipped along with thy brother and sister and Sudarshana Chakra
Praying to the Lord, Oh Love divine! Bless us to love thee only so gratifying
Could see a Fakir who was singing God's name and always uttered Allah Mallik (God is Lord)
Lord of all beings, home of Vaishnava devotees, most liberal amongst liberals
Meek, humble and egoless and pleased all
Praying Him to place His hand on us and bless us with eternal love and bliss

Oh sleep, propeller of mystic dreams
Fuel dreams and dreams of Gods only
For when to thee I shall be drawing nearer and even nearest
For the rest of world of Him and in Him I shall see as the best
And at daybreak when dreams would have lost its sheen
In reality at thy feet I shall be lying and dreaming of Gods only....
