Sacred Incense Poem by Emmanuel George Cefai

Sacred Incense

Sacred incense,
Sacred incense, rise!

The temple-shrine it scents
Of holy smoke-incense

And quiet be the night
Barefoot the monks

And in that awesome
Silence rise
The voices of the monks
And canticles.

And from behind a pillar
In monastery
Peeps out the Dawn
