Sacrifice Poem by Boghos Artinian

Sacrifice

After a risky drinking of muddy waters
In front of a languishing pride of lions,
The herd of bisons left in gentle strides.
The old bison stayed wandering in the mud
As if daring the hungry lions to attack.
Sensing that he wanted to be sacrificed for the herd
They rose slowly, moved gently and then attacked.
He showed little resistance, for a huge bison,
With only a few horn blows, then fell to the ground,
While the lions on top of him started their feast.
