Sacrificial Hope Poem by Christopher's Dead

Sacrificial Hope

Rating: 5.0

What is life when it comes down to it, what do you see
When you look into the face of a child with her head in the sky
With a mind running free like the innocence of breath and
She takes one more step, and she breaks down and cries
Because her mom was just shot, life was taken away
It was no one’s fault and yet she’s gonna go blaming herself
If she had told her she loved her one more time
Maybe her mom would’ve stayed to hug her, and now that she can’t
It’s a sorrowful abundance of black and flashing lights
And the sounds that she hears, almost piercing, yet muffled inside
And all the hopes and dreams that she had for her child
She’ll never see come true because someone else wanted her to die.

So life takes a wrong turn, started out on a wrong step
All the sympathy from others and yet no one can get a grip on
The point of the killing, why someone would try
To spread hate instead of love, keeps on holding us back and
Inside, all the selfishness and the wants and the pain
Doesn’t anyone see that it’s only because
In the inner consciousness of greed, all anyone ever
Really wants in this life is just to be loved
Can we start accepting life, what we’re given us now
Even if we feel so worse off than the others around
Just remember that if you make just one other feel so loved
As you would so like to feel, then there’s truly hope for the world.

It is such an awful realization of life
When you turn on your TV, someone else has just died
And there are millions people who are hoping for peace
And it only takes one person to take another’s life
Let’s give up all the crying, and give up our pain
And place life in the hands of sacrificial Hope
And a plan for the world that we just cannot see
Wanting love, and hoping everyone else will believe.
