Salvaging Poem by Arfa Iris

Salvaging

we have a dog as pet,
every time he saw me he got upset.
he used to bark till i left his ken,
i tried hard to be his friend.
but failed in all my ways.
& remained his foist for many days.
then one dark, chilly night.
i sensed he was in some plight.
i checked him again & again,
but nothing seemed to cause him pain.
as it was dark below.
i wasnt able to know,
the reason for his cry so weak & low.
i checked him again, putting on the light,
& was shocked by the horrible sight.
his tither almost strangled him to death,
he was striving hard for his breath.
i jumped to set him free,
this time he accepted me.
he was so silent & calm,
though in freeing, i did him harm.
now when he sees me after the salvaging,
he wags his tail in greeting.
