Same Fate Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

Same Fate

Rating: 5.0

I did not believe in bad luck
But it had certainly struck
In the form of death
So many friends had their last breath

I had to visit hometown
Since many of the dignitaries were known
They were old time friend
We had, for many years, not seen or sent wishes

They were all in seven numbers
I very vividly remember about them
They were rich and from influential families
I was with them from childhood to rally

After departure from home, I got news of tragic end
One of my friends had met with car accident
He had died on the spot
I felt grief and cried a lot

Some of them had left lasting impression
We had discussed lot more and had sincere confession
We did joke about sweet companions
After all it was happy union

One by one six others met with same fate
I thought I must bring in poetical form and state
I resolved not to go again in village
I was afraid of shaking hands with aged people
