Sand Field Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Sand Field

Sand field

I add to my knowledge
-when going road to road
-and knocking every door

Names are my interest
-the people's, places
-I see the history
-in silence

Is great when seeing
-a Chinese, Japanese
-living in the tepee
-or by an absent lake
-named: "The King"

Toronto, is to me
-a vase or a garden
-holding the flowers
-ranging in the colours

For this sake
- (only this)
-I do love
-Toronto

Imagine Atousa
-a common Persian name
- (for female)
-the pride of ancient
- (daughter of the Cyrus ;)
- (the Great)
- (and wife of Darius)
- (Achaemenid)
-living in area which is named:
-the "Sand-Field)

But there is no trace of the sand! ! !
Buildings, roads are in mass! ! !

Now rewrite history
-the Don-Mills and York-Mills
-used to be the Marshlands; of the East…
