Sandy The Giant Storm Poem by Mike Abel

Sandy The Giant Storm

Rating: 5.0

Natures daughters squash comforts to concertinas.
Sandy's done, in the wings are Tammy and Teresa.
They each want to outdo their elder sister Katrina.

We aren't calamity proof, even with warnings.
Disasters are regular causes for our mourning.
Have you noticed that nature's gripes are soaring?

The props for her play are fast changing character.
We like normal, so we miss her point to the theatre.
"You're abusing the earth of which you are minder."

So can we expect terror hurricanes as usual climate?
Or moving mountain mudslides and tsunamis as diet?
It's not in our natures to stop exploiting this planet.

Let nature adapt to our technology and progress.
Yes. She's doing that, playing environmental chess.
Sandy's played her piece, your move now. Any stress?

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I've been deeply moved by the effects of Sandy on people. This is serious and a time of prayer for the hurting. Perhaps now is also the beginning of some soul searching as humanity.
