Save You From Yourself Poem by Courtney Beaudry

Save You From Yourself

The season's changing
New air is taking
Hearts are breaking
And things are fading

I could help you
If your hand is in mine
I could make this all fine
I can save you from the dark
Keep the light to shine in your ark

Still there are things in this world
Where you're on your own
I wish I could help you there
But you're all alone

I can save you from the dark
I can save you from the hurt
I can save you from the hate
I can shield you from the world
But I can't save you from yourself

The winter draws on and
the cold creeps in
Lovers unite and invite
themselves in
I watch you grow and wish to be
the hand on your shoulder

If I had known
You would have been shown
All the love that I could give
If it'd make you live
And I swear to you now
that I'm always around

Still there are things in this world
Where you're on your own
I wish I could help there
But you're all alone

I can save you from the dark
I can save you from the hurt
I can save you from the hate
I can shield you from the world
But I can't save you from yourself

I can save you from the dark
(I'll light the way)
I can save you from the hurt
(Together we will see you through)
I can save you from the hate
(Don't listen to what they say)
I can shield you from the world
(Just by holding onto you)
But, no matter what I do
I can't save you from you
