Saying Goodbye Poem by Juan Olivarez

Saying Goodbye

Saying goodbye, is never easy to do,
When someone you love passes away.
You stand grief stricken, without a clue,
And wish somehow she could have stayed.

And then you remember all the pain,
That she was going through.
In that hospital bed, where she had lain,
And you realize, God knows what to do.

No more suffering, she's free at last,
Remember her kindness, and her smile.
There are beautiful memories, from the past,
That should linger, for a good long while.

Saying goodbye is always hard,
Even in the best of times.
But she's now playing better cards,
Better even, than in her prime.
