Scared In America Poem by Randy McClave

Scared In America

Whenever he tries to go to sleep
While in bed he counts guns instead of sheep,
And when he lays down his worried head
He has a gun underneath the pillow on his bed.
He's prepared if he has nightmares at night,
He always has a gun to battle his fright.

Whenever there is a knock upon his door
In his hand he has a loaded 44,
And whenever he goes outside to get his paper or his mail
He's always ready and prepared for all hell.
He carry's his gun drawn always prepared to be attacked,
He is always packed.

Whenever he goes out to eat
He's scared because of bad desperados he might meet,
And whenever he sees a stranger
He is frightened as if his life is in imminent danger.
And he believes all immigrants must learn a lesson,
So, he always carries his Smith & Wesson.

Whenever he goes to the park
He never goes when it's storming or after dark,
Because he's frightened of all the shadows he sees
And he's scared of purses and bags and bushes and trees.
He doesn't know where all the guns are hidden,
And what is legal and what is forbidden.

Whenever he goes to church to worship and pray
He reads the guns Bible written by the NRA,
And when he's in the Lords house
He holds tightly unto his gun as if it were his spouse.
And when the worshipping and the praying is done,
He gives extra thanks for his savior his gun.

Whenever he hears people speaking in a different language
In his soul there is now worries and anguish,
And when he sees people with different beliefs and colors of skin
He sees them all as evil and full of sin.
So, he grabs his gun that's made in America,
He's scared in America.
