Scarlet Poem by Saurabh Raizada

Scarlet

Somewhere... between Life and Death...

Souls of the living dead
swamp the dark peat bog
lumps of clinging sins
clumps of stinking sods

Glowing embers blaze and burn
scarlet vapors rise from urns

Amidst chants of evil spells
shrieks ring loud and shrill
black fog's misty wetness
sends cold and shivery chills

A glowing form... a weak Unicorn
lay on ground with a broken horn

Meandering scarlet vapor
weaves thru' stumps of trees
seeking life and the living
to soak life-giving breeze

It lay wide-eyed...
heavy noisy breaths
immobile, frozen still
waiting for the Scarlet Death!

Somewhere... between Life and Death
