Scene: D. Bazan Comforted By A Figure In White Robes

Come forth now, my snake-bitten child
Embrace me—remember the years
When plain was my presence beside you
You felt me as if you were here

Then fog of anxiety settled
Life's horrors were too much to bear
You stared into Love—when you did so
You saw me as if I weren't there

From where came this yearning for mercy?
What thirst caused the ache in your bones?
Your tears for the lost weren't unfounded
David, your love was my own

We'll fly to your home on the Jordan
The one you'd envisioned and shunned
I'll tell you again how I missed you
You'll tell me again how you're stunned

You thought you had figured it out then
Refuted that crown on your head
Destroying your tower to heaven
Predicting the fate of the dead

But grace overwhelming has triumphed
That love which compelled you to moan
Has found all your brothers and healed them
David, your love is my own
