On evenings when the sky's face turned dark
and the wind inhaled a pinch of snuff,
my petticoat-clad sister and I
used to go beneath the north-facing wild jack
on our uncle's property.
We would collect the seeds from the splayed fruits
and hurry back home
before the wind gathered force.
We shared black tea and fried wild jack seeds
in our kitchen on whose walls
climbed the creepers of rain.
An axe ate up the wild jack long ago,
and marriage petrified my sister,
who in time metamorphosed into a grindstone.
I don't know how to curse or dress stone.
At times when pain gnaws at my core,
I sculpt my anguish into poetry. And that's all.

Profound soliloquy. The poem commences recalling the pleasant memories of childhood with a "petticoat clad sister", but proceeds into a haunting and perturbing experience…

I would like to translate this poem
May I inform the poet that he can post his original poems in Malayalam too in this site. I would love to read the Malayalam original of this poem, if I could. Thank You
