Seagulls Don'T Sing...They Scream And Cry Poem by Donna Elouise James

Seagulls Don'T Sing...They Scream And Cry

I was once a seagull
never able to sing a beautiful song
only screams and solitary cries.
Following the great ship of my dreams
waiting for the scraps of love
to be thrown over board.
Led cold and starving
out into the tempestuous seas
drifting endlessly into the night.

Then through the dark crimson swell
an alluring saffron flame
shone from North West.
“You are unique, my seagull,
now rise, and sore
above this bleak night you call your home”.
I was once a seagull
never able to sing a beautiful song
only screams and solitary cries.
